That’s a wrap on another beautiful summer in the city – it was a busy one and, as expected, went by way too fast. Luckily, we were able to sneak in a few afternoons on the patio, a couple games of beer pong and some other fair weather activities before fall snuck in – here’s a peek at some of the things we got up to in Q3.
Summer’s for patio parties
Nothing better than pints, pong and great company, right? Plus, we couldn’t let summer slip by without squeezing in at least a couple of our famous patio parties! 🍻☀️
This isn’t the first (and certainly won’t be the last) rooftop celebration we’ve enjoyed – we’ve hosted everything from impromptu mid-day cookouts to 90s theme parties, from scavenger hunts to mini-golf and, well, pretty much everything in between.
Participating in Orange Shirt Day
We busted out our finest orange shirts for the third annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day (which explains our matching ensembles).
This day is an important opportunity for all of us to reflect on the (historic and still-ongoing) systemic wrongs done to the Indigenous community in this country.
It’s a chance to listen, learn and educate ourselves; to explore the diverse cultures and stories of the First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, and to figure out how we can participate meaningfully in the journey towards reconciliation in Canada. 🧡
Bookworms, unite!
C’mon, you *know* we’re a bunch of bookworms around here, so we jumped at the chance to revive the ol’ Impact book club of yore (even if just for a day!) and exchange reading recommendations.
If you’re curious, here are some of our team’s favourite books penned by Indigenous authors:
〰️ Held by the Land – Leigh Joseph
〰️ Half Bads in White Regalia – Cody Caetano
〰️ Braiding Sweetgrass – Robin Wall Kimmerer
〰️ NDN Coping Mechanisms – Billy-Ray Belcourt
〰️ Five Little Indians – Michelle Good
〰️ Making Love with the Land – Joshua Whitehead
〰️ Bad Cree – Jessica Johns
Opportunity knocks
If it wasn’t abundantly clear at this point, here’s the scoop: there are coworkers, and then there are *great* coworkers – and, yes, our team falls into the second category. 😚💯
That being said, we’re always looking to meet new people! If you’re a recruitment professional who’s interested in joining a company that’s got big dreams and concrete plans for a continued expansion across North America (and beyond!), we’d be happy to discuss opportunities for you to grow your career right alongside us – and enjoy the rooftop patio along the way, of course.
Want to learn more? Wendy Chiu would love to connect with you to chat about all the perks of working with Impact and discuss what it would look like to have you as the newest member of our team.
