The birds are chirping, the cherry blossoms are blooming and the first quarter of 2023 is officially behind us! Before we shift our focus to everything coming down the line in Q2, we wanted to share some of the fun stuff our team’s gotten up to during the first few months of the year.
Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to lately:
Lunar New Year, Year of the Rabbit
We kicked off the Year of the Rabbit with full bellies and lots of things to be both thankful for AND excited about.
(Plus, our annual (and much-anticipated) Lunar New Year lunches in both Vancouver + Toronto did not disappoint! 🥡🥠🧧️🐇)
Pink Shirt Day
Being kind is cool. Compassion is cool. Empathy is cool. And wearing pink on #PinkShirtDay? That’s very, very cool. From coast to coast, both in-office and WFH, our team donned their finest pink tops for Pink Shirt Day 2023! 💕
Pink Shirt Day raises awareness about bullying – an issue that continues to be a major problem in our schools, workplaces, homes and online.
As we work together towards creating safer, happier and more inclusive communities, remember, a little kindness goes a long way.
East meets West
Once upon a time, there were just a handful of us working side by side every day from our one-and-only office space in downtown Vancouver.
Fast-forward to today and, well, let’s just say that we wouldn’t all fit under one roof anymore!
Over the years, we’ve grown in a big way – expanding across Canada and into the US. Now, you can find our amazing team working from our Vancouver HQ, from our beautiful office space in the heart of Toronto, from the sun-soaked Okanagan or from Canada’s unofficial seafood capital: the Maritimes! ☀️🏙🦞️
Being a distributed team is amazing for so many reasons, but there’s nothing like some good ol’ fashioned face time. Earlier this year, Lukas visited our Toronto team for the first time, and Brett made a quick stop to catch up with our team in Calgary!
Axe throwing = team bonding?
As recruiters, we’re pretty familiar with the phrase “hitting your targets” – though we don’t normally mean it quite so literally! 🪓🎯
When it comes to spending a little quality time together outside of the office, most of our teams choose to do team lunches, go bowling, hit up a happy hour… but our Development + Construction Management group decided they wanted to throw sharp objects at things instead – and why not!
Based on the photos, it actually looks like we’ve got some pretty skilled axe throwers on our team. Recruiters by day, lumberjacks by night? 🤝
VBA Annual Charity Dodgeball Tournament
“If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.” – the late, great and entirely fictional Patches O’Houlihan 🔧🤾♀️
Last week, we had the pleasure of participating in the Vancouver Bar Association’s Annual Charity Dodgeball Tournament: a super fun evening where a bunch of cool people throw stuff at each other for a really great cause.
(Proceeds from this year’s tournament went to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank! 💛)
Want in on this?
We’re on the lookout for great people to join our growing team – so if you’re keen to hang out with a bunch of gems and do good work you’ll care about, this might be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!
And remember, we’ve got folks in remote positions throughout BC’s interior, on Vancouver Island and all across the country – so if you’re interested in coming on board but not located near an Impact office, that’s something we’re more than happy to discuss.
